Idaho
has become a great outcross bull for our program. We did a search for
a thick, moderate-framed, calving ease bull that had good growth. We
located him in Idaho — hence his nickname. Idaho has tremendous
spring of rib and guts. If you measure thickness as pounds per inch
of height — Idaho is hard to beat. His sons continue to be among
our top-selling forage-tested bulls. Idaho is still working at 10 years
of age. That’s impressive! His $EN value is in the top 15% of
the breed. Co-owned with Seven Spades Cattle Company. |

We often
refer to Moderator as “The King of Calving Ease”. He is
in the top 1% of the Angus breed for birth weight EPD. He has been
used on thousands of commercial heifers with excellent results. Many
calving ease bulls lack substance and thickness, but not this one.
Moderator is a very deep-bodied bull. He also has a very impressive
energy value ($EN) of +27 (top 2% of the Angus breed). He will produce
some efficient, low-maintenance females. Moderator was still working
at 12 years of age. Co-owned with Totton Angus Ranch. |

Kava is producing
some beautiful, deep-bodied, easy-fleshing daughters that everyone
loves. Three 2-year-old Kava daughters sold in Dallas Anderson’s
dispersal sale for an average price of $5,600. Kava is a calving ease
bull with a birth weight EPD in the top 20% of the Angus breed. His
$EN value is in the top 2% of the breed. Kava has been used naturally
on a set of cows that range from 3-frame to 7-frame in size, but his

Reno was
produced by one of our very best, older cows. She was a very thick,
deep-flanked, easy-fleshing, 3.5 frame cow that produced until she
was 12. Reno’s sire, 9Q4, is a well-balanced bull that produces
moderate sized females with a little extra milk. Reno has worked great
on heifers. His birth weight EPD is in the top 10% of the Angus breed.
His $EN value is in the top 25% of the breed. Reno’s daughters
are the keeping kind. He is pictured in his working clothes in Wyoming.

Without
a doubt, this was the most phenotypically correct bull we have ever
owned. Encore was a very thick, heavy muscled bull with superb masculinity.
He had excellent hip and leg structure. Encore’s momma was an
easy-fleshing cow that was still producing at age 14. Encore sires
early-shedding, slick-haired cattle that work great in the east and
southeast. His $EN value is in the top 10% of the Angus breed. Encore
is co-owned with Keeney Angus. |
