A son of the great DHD Traveler 6807 with some guaranteed calving ease. Night Man is in the top 2% of the Angus breed for Birth Weight EPD with an 85% accuracy. You can use him with complete confidence on your first-calf heifers, but you should also consider using him on your mature cows. Night Man is a stout, easy fleshing bull that is producing some very nice, fault-free females. His sons have been very popular in our bull sales, but most people say they like his daughters better than his sons. Is beef tenderness important to you? Night Man received the highest possible ratings for tenderness in both the GeneSTAR and the TenderGENE tests. Semen available in Canada. Co-owned with Diamond H Land and Livestock.

Moderator PC 4034

Birth Date: 3/2/94       Birth Weight: 64       Reg.#: 12532972

Sire: Moderator         Mat. Grand Sire: Progressive Chap 8304

EPD's:     B.Wt. -3.5    W.Wt. +18      Y.Wt. +33      Milk +5

Frame: 4.0           Mature Wt.: 2080               Price: $16/straw

Calving ease at it’s very best! Moderator is in the top half of 1% for Birth Weight EPDs in the Angus breed with an accuracy of 85%. He has been used on thousands of first-calf heifers with excellent results. Many supreme calving ease bulls lack substance and thickness, but not this one. This is a very thick, deep-bodied bull that lives up to his name, Moderator. He does an excellent job of moderating mature cow size. His daughters are the keeping kind. They are fertile, deep-ribbed, good-doing cows with nice udders. Moderator has become quite popular because he is a complete outcross to the most popular Angus genetics. At 10 years of age, Moderator is still being used naturally here at PCC. Co-owned with Totton Angus Ranch.

OCC Emancipate 889E

Birth Date: 4/4/95               Birth Weight: 78                         Reg. # : 12948073

Sire: OCC Anchor 771A                        Mat. G. Sire: Shoshone Vantage JB23

EPD’s:       B.Wt. +1.2                W.Wt. +20         Y.Wt. +38         Milk +9

Frame: 2.5               Mature Wt.: 1800                     Price: $16/straw

Here is a bull that can move almost any cowherd in the right direction. Emancipate is an extremely stout, smaller framed bull that we are very excited about. His bull calves continue to stand out and excel in our forage program. His daughters are the absolute best in every cowherd we have seen them in. This powerful bull does an excellent job of moderating frame size while increasing thickness, muscling and fleshing ability. If you want to put some substance and doability into your cattle, this is the bull to use. Several producers have used Emancipate on heifers with no problems. At 9 years of age, this bull still has excellent feet and legs and stays fat on nothing but short, native grass. Co-owned with Matney Cattle Company.

Mon Reposa Rito (Idaho)

Birth Date: 4/28/98        Birth Weight: 72                       Reg. # : 13227573

Sire: Mon Reposa Shandar     Mat. G. Sire: VF Traveler 722-4003

EPD’s:       B.Wt. –1.2     W.Wt. +26       Y.Wt. +54      Milk +14

Frame: 3.5             Mature Wt.: 2180                    Price: $14/straw

Idaho is a relative newcomer to our program. Dave Gwyn, a PCC cooperative producer, did a search for a thick, small framed, calving ease bull that had good growth. He located this bull in Idaho — hence his nickname. Idaho has tremendous spring of rib and a huge heart girth. These traits are highly correlated with doability and fleshing ability. It doesn’t take much to keep this bull in excellent condition. We have used Idaho for five years, and are becoming more and more confident in his calving ease. His –1.2 birth weight EPD has an 84% accuracy. When you consider pounds per inch of height, this is one of the absolute thickest bulls in the entire Angus breed. Idaho is co-owned with Seven Spades Cattle Company.

Leachman Elway 9161-8806

  Birth Date: 1/22/98           Birth Weight: 75                   Reg. # : 13140820

Sire: GDAR Traveler 9161        Mat. G. Sire: Leachman Conveyor

  EPD’s:               B.Wt. +1.0     W.Wt. +32        Y.Wt. +62      Milk +24

  Frame: 4.5                      Mature Wt.: N/A                      Price: $12/straw

Elway is a grandson of DHD Traveler 6807 on the top side of his pedigree, and a great grandson of N-Bar Emulation EXT on the bottom side of his pedigree. He is a moderate sized bull with potential calving ease and above average performance. He has a great disposition! Elway is an extremely masculine, heavy muscled bull with an absolutely huge heart girth. His heart girth measured an amazing 95 inches as a 5-year old. There are very, very few 6 and 7-frame bulls with that much heart girth. We have found that heart girth is an excellent indicator of fleshing ability. Elway has been used on first-calf heifers with excellent results. His daughters are looking very promising and impressive. Co-owned with Krage Ranch Angus.

KA Encore 492

Birth Date: 2/18/96              Birth Weight: 82                     Reg. # : 13383005

Sire: Shoshone Encore 6310 M. G. S.: Gorthy of Graham 27788

EPD’s:                          B.Wt. +1.8       W.Wt. +39        Y.Wt. +67       Milk+9

Frame: 3.0                                   Mature Wt.: 1820                 Price: $12/straw

Without a doubt, this is the most phenotypically correct bull we have ever owned. He is exactly what an Angus bull should look like. Encore is a very thick, heavy muscled bull with superb masculinity. He is structurally correct from top to bottom. Excellent hip structure! Encore’s mother is a fault-free, easy fleshing cow that is still producing at age 12. Use this bull to produce some efficient, fault-free females with some bred-in fertility and longevity. Encore sons and daughters are very slick-haired, early-shedding cattle. They will work great in fescue country of the east and southeast. Encore is co-owned with Keeney Angus in Kentucky.

OCC Kava 784K

  Birth Date: 3/14/00       Birth Weight: 70                           Reg. # : 13778917

Sire:  OCC Gladitor 612G                            Mat. Grand Sire: OCC Anchor 771A

  EP’s:     B.Wt. +0.8     W.Wt. +31         Y.Wt. +54         Milk +13

  Frame: 3.0                Mature Wt.: 1800               Price: $12/straw

Kava was one of our high-selling bulls in our 2001 Spring Bull Sale. He is a very powerful bull with above average performance and potential calving ease. He maintains excellent body condition year-round. We have always liked this bull but after seeing his first two calf crops, we think this bull has tremendous potential. He has been used naturally on a set of cows that range from 3-frame to 7-frame in size. At weaning, his calves looked like peas in a pod. They were very uniform in size and type. Very few bulls have the ability to do this, even on a uniform set of cows. Kava’s first daughters will calve this spring. They are very thick, broody and uniform in appearance. Kava is co-owned with 4-P Farms and Ohlde Cattle Company.

Octoraro Rito 503 (Hammer)

Birth Date: 4/2/98              Birth Weight: 84                                 Reg. # : 13251454

Sire: PBC 707 1M F0203                    M. G. Sire.: Emulation 31

EPD’s:                          B.Wt. +2.5       W.Wt. +24       Y.Wt. +38       Milk+10

Frame: 4.0                                   Mature Wt.: N/A                  Price: $12/straw

Hammer is another relatively new bull to our program. He was produced by Sam Wylie in Pennsylvania. Sam still breeds for good, old-fashion, no-nonsense Angus cattle. Hammer’s pedigree is stacked with older, well-proven breed legends like Emulation 31, Shoshone Viking and F0203 (DHD Traveler 6807’s maternal grandsire). F0203 has produced some of the absolute very best females in the Angus breed. Hammer’s dam produced until she was 18 years old. His maternal sister is still working at age 17. Use this bull to produce some of the best females you have ever produced. Hammer is co-owned with Howrey Angus Ranch and Powell Angus Ranch.

PCC Reno 903

  Birth Date: 3/21/99        Birth Weight: 74                           Reg. # : 13495287

  Sire: Rito 9Q4 of 1H1 Sasquatch        M. G. S.: OCC Broadside 876B

  EP’s:     B.Wt. +1.2     W.Wt. +24         Y.Wt. +54         Milk +23

  Frame: 4.2              Mature Wt.: N/A                  Price: $12/straw

Reno was produced by one of our very best, older cows — a granddaughter of DHD Traveler 6807. She is a very thick, deep-flanked, moderate-sized cow that is fault-free in every way. Reno was one of the most popular bulls in our 2000 Bull Sale. He was used exclusively on first and second calf heifers for his first two breeding seasons with absolutely no calving problems. His sons excelled in our forage program and were well received in our 2003 Fall Bull Sale. Reno’s sire, 9Q4, is a well balanced bull that produces moderate sized females with a little extra milk. We believe Reno has the potential to do great things. He is pictured above in is working clothes on a ranch in Wyoming. Reno is co-owned with Dale Kostur.

JAD Trailblazer M907

Birth Date: 6/6/02               Birth Weight: 82                    Reg. # : 14521018

Sire: OCC Emblazon 854E          M. G. Sire: Sitz Alliance 6595

EPD’s:      B.Wt. +1.6      W.Wt. +37      Y.Wt. +70     Milk   +18

Frame: N/A                 Mature Wt.: N/A                    Price: $12/straw

Owned by Ohlde Cattle Co. - Palmer, KS

Trailblazer is a very stout, small-framed, forage-tested bull that sold in our 2003 Fall Bull Sale. Because of the way these bulls are developed, it’s impossible to know their actual frame score until they reach maturity. I would guess this bull to be in the 3-frame range. Trailblazer is the first Emblazon son we have ever offered semen on. Emblazon is a DHD Traveler 6807 son out of a fault-free cow that died at the age of 21. Trailblazer is a very thick, deep-bodied bull with an excellent disposition. His hip structure is much better than his sire’s. Trailblazer should be a guaranteed udder improver. His dam, and her dam, and her grand dam all have flawless udders. Trailblazer is co-owned with Dockweiler Angus Ranch and Dustin Olds.

Iron Man was our lead-off forage-tested bull in our 2002 Spring Bull Sale. He is a thick, deep-bodied, calving ease bull out of a good Bear of WYE daughter with a –1.9 birth weight EPD. Iron Man is double bred for consistent calving ease. We think this bull may eventually replace his sire as our most popular calving ease bull.

Bench Mark was our lead-off forage-tested bull in the 2003 Harrison, Nebraska Bull Sale. He is a very thick, easy fleshing bull with potential calving ease. It is hard to find thickness and calving ease in the same package. Bench Mark was sired by another really good DHD Traveler 6807 son. His dam is our favorite Bear of WYE daughter.

Hillbilly was the high selling bull in our 1999 Bull Sale. He is a very stout, well-balanced bull that puts a tremendous amount of performance in an efficient, moderate-sized package. Hillbilly is a very masculine bull that can cover a lot of cows while holding his condition. His dam is a Traveler 6807 granddaughter. Limited semen inventory.

Logic was a very popular, high-selling bull in our Spring 2002 Bull Sale. His sire, High Density, is an OCC Anchor son out of an EXT daughter. Logic is another easy-keeping, heavy-muscled, high-performance bull with some potential calving ease. It is difficult to get all of that in one package. Limited semen inventory — $8/straw while it lasts.
