Every morning, I glance through beef publications and articles – both in hardcopy and on the internet.   There have been very few mornings that I didn’t see an article about “cow size.”   It seems to have replaced “fly control” as the hottest topic going.   Everyone wants to talk about cow size.   Unfortunately, at least half of the people doing the talking don’t know what they are talking about.

I could tell you all the reasons why I think “cow size” is such a HOT topic, but you probably already know what I think about this.

For most of the past 30 years… Pharo Cattle Company has been the only one promoting the benefits of smaller, more efficient cows – cows that can increase pounds and profit per acre.   Consequently, we have the genetics you need to produce efficient, easy-fleshing, low-maintenance, 3 to 4-frame cows.   Our 3 to 4-frame cows have enough muscle, thickness and condition to weigh 1100 to 1250 pounds.   How many other seedstock producers have low-maintenance, 3 to 4-frame cows?   Most have high-maintenance, 5 to 7-frame cows that must be pampered to stay in production.
